Ambassador for Sri Lanka to Lebanon, Kapila Jayaweera attended the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) Medal Award Ceremony of the 15th Sri Lanka Army Contingent at Naquora in Lebanon on 11 February 2025.
At the ceremony, the Ambassador greeted the Sri Lanka Army Contingent on its successful role in peace keeping in Lebanon, and appreciated its courage and bravery amid the recent war in Lebanon. Further, the Ambassador briefed the outstanding role played by Sri Lanka Army in peace keeping across the world.
The event was graced by Deputy Force Commander of UNIFIL, Maj. General Chok Bahadur Dhakal and Maj. General U.K.D.D.P. Udugama of the Sri Lanka Army.
At present the 15th Sri Lanka Contingent of UNIFIL in Lebanon consists of 125 Army officers and other ranks.
