Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Romania, Madurika Joseph Weninger officially inaugurated the much anticipated grand musical night, “Nonimi Blast Night”, attending as the Chief Guest of the event. The musical extravaganza held on 12 October, 2024 at the Roman Arena in Bucharest, was attended by nearly 5,000 Sri Lankan expatriate workers from various regions across Romania. The event provided a platform to celebrate Sri Lankan culture and a joyous escape for both Sri Lankan expatriates and locals.
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Weninger highlighted the significance of such events in fostering community spirit among expatriates and celebrating Sri Lankan culture abroad. "Nonimi Blast Night is not just a celebration of our music and dance; it is a testament to the resilience and unity of the Sri Lankan community living in Romania. These gatherings provide an opportunity to strengthen our bonds and support one another in a foreign land", she stated. The Ambassador also expressed optimism in enhancing consular services in the future to better support the Sri Lankan community in Romania.
The evening featured performances by iconic Sri Lankan musicians, including the top music group Flash Back, alongside popular artists Hana Safa, Bachi Susan, and Kingsley Pieris. Their remarkable talents captivated the audience, giving an unforgettable experience for all attendees.
The spectacular Sri Lankan musical event, “Nonimi Blast Night” was organized by CEO of Ceylon Entertainment Company, Dinush Wijerathne. The event also offered attendees a unique opportunity to transfer remittances to Sri Lanka at no cost, facilitated by a partnership with Smith & Smith Company and DFCC Bank of Sri Lanka. This collaboration aims to streamline remittance services for the Sri Lankan community in Romania, providing a quicker and more accessible method for Sri Lankan expatriates to support their loved ones back home.
Ambassador Weninger expressed her gratitude to the Nonimi Group for orchestrating the show and for their commitment to uniting the Sri Lankan community by celebrating the country’s rich culture.
