73rd Independence Day Ceremony in the Embassy of Sri Lanka, Warsaw

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Warsaw celebrated the 73rd Anniversary of Independence on 04 February 2021 at the Embassy premises. The ceremony was limited only to the staff of the Embassy adhering to the health regulations imposed by the government of Poland due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic situation.

The official ceremony proceedings commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by Chargé d’ Affaires a.i. with the accompaniment of “Magul Bera”, followed by singing of the National Anthem.

Thereafter, two minutes silence was observed in remembrance of all those who had sacrificed their lives for the motherland. The traditional oil lamp was lit by the Chargé d’ Affaires a.i. and the members of the staff of the Embassy.

The Independence Day Messages of the President, the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister were delivered in Sinhala and English languages, respectively.

The National Day ceremony concluded after serving refreshments.
