Registration of Births Abroad
For Registration of Birth abroad
Eligibility: Children born outside Sri Lanka to Sri Lankan parents (At least one of the parents should be a Sri Lankan Citizen/ should have dual citizenship at the time of the child’s birth)
Payment: A sum of Rs 3,900/- should be paid at the Consular Affairs Division and produce this receipt to the Central Record Room of the Registrar General’s Department for registration and issuance of birth certificate.
Time for payments: From 0830hrs to 1500hrs on working days
Necessary Supporting documents:
- One of the parents should be present
- A copy of passport data page
- Proof of National Identity Card (NIC)
- Foreign Birth Certificate / Hospital record of the child
- Parents Citizenship/Dual Citizenship Certificate
