71st Independence Day of Sri Lanka celebrated in Nairobi

The  High Commission  of  Sri Lanka  in Nairobi celebrated the 71st Independence Day  of Sri Lanka   with the  participation of the Sri Lankan  expatriate  community on 4th February 2019.  The religious dignitaries representing all four religions invoked blessings at the ceremony.

High Commissioner Sunil de Silva hoisted the National Flag while National Anthem of Sri Lanka being played in Sinhala & Tamil languages. Addressing the community, High Commissioner reiterated the importance of contributing back to the motherland and elaborated the importance of the National Day and the unity of all Sri Lankan in achieving national aspirations.

An evening function was also hosted for the Diplomatic and Sri Lankan community by the High Commission.  Ambassador Tom Amalo, Political and Diplomatic Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs  of   the Republic of Kenya addressing  the  gathering as the  Chief  Guest of the  occasion emphasised the   close  cooperation  between the  two  countries and  toasted for the  health  and  prosperity  of the  Head of State  and  the  people  of  Sri Lanka.
