Ambassador Thassim holds discussions with the Director General of the Executive Board of the Gulf Health Council

Sri Lanka's Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Azmi Thassim met Mr.  Sulaiman bin Saleh Al Dakheel, Director General of the Executive Board of the Gulf Health Council in Riyadh which coordinates the pre-departure medical check-up program for the expat workers who seek employment opportunities in the GCC region.

At this meeting, the two parties deliberated on the current system in place for pre-departure medical checkup for migrant workers leaving for GCC countries. Mr. Al Dakheel explained the steps that have been taken by the Executive Board of the Gulf Health Council to further systemize the current pre departure medical checkup process. Ambassador Thassim underlined that some gaps exist in the system and made proposals to bridge these gaps. Mr. Al Dakheel appreciated Sri Lanka’s active involvement in looking into various aspects of this medical process and its assistance to make necessary amendments, which is ultimately for the benefit of expat workers. Topics such as upgrading the standards of the gulf approved medical centers in Sri Lanka, reviewing their pricing formula and incorporation of medical information into labour management systems such as MUSANED were also discussed at this meeting.
