The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Amman celebrated Christmas at the Embassy premises on 21 December 2018. The event was organized jointly with the Sri Lankan community based in Jordan.

A Sri Lankan Rev. Father who is in Jordan delivered the sermon. The Rev. Father having highlighted the significance and importance of the eve of the Christmas requested the gathering not to confine the Christmas just only for celebrations but to follow and spread the message of Jesus Christ, which is peace and harmony, among the people.

Sri Lanka's Ambassador to Jordan A.L.M. Lafeer stated that in his personal view celebrating Christmas in Jordan has added value because Jesus Christ was baptized by John the Baptist in Jordan Valley, and Jesus has set his foot on the soil of Jordan on his journey from Jerusalem.

The Ambassador further stated that he was happy to observe that different Sri Lankan communities in Jordan having established unity among them have been working for the betterment of our motherland.

Sri Lankan children sang carols and performed several dances. Santa Claus was also seen distributing candies and gifts among the participants, who represented all the communities of Sri Lanka.
