The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Tokyo celebrated 72nd Independence Day at “Reiyukai” Institute on 04 February. Senior Japanese Government Officials, former Japanese Ambassadors to Sri Lanka, Buddhists monks representing 07 Temples, members of all Sri Lankan Associations in Tokyo, fellow Sri Lankan and Japanese friends attended the celebration.
Simultaneously, two national newspapers; ‘The Japan Times’ and ‘The Japan News’ carried special Independence Day supplements including themes of Sri Lanka tourism and gems, organized by the Embassy and sponsored by several well-wishers.
Formal and a dignified ceremony concluded after serving authentic Sri Lankan refreshments and Tea.
