The 3rd Political Consultations between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand were held on 30th June 2014 in Bangkok. The Sri Lankan delegation was led by Mrs. Kshenuka Senewiratne, the Secretary to the Ministry of External Affairs of Sri Lanka and the delegation of the Kingdom of Thailand was led by H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Permanent Secretary who is also the acting Foreign Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand under the current political dispensation.
The interaction which was focussed on further enhancing the prevailing bilateral relations, has enabled the opening of new vistas for more closer linkages in consolidating the traditional bonds of friendship between the two countries.
In this context, both sides emphasized the need to pay more attention to trade, tourism, culture, co-operation in regional and multilateral fora, exchange of views on regional and international issues, security cooperation, technical co-operation and infrastructure investments.
The delegation to the political consultations comprised Mrs. Kshenuka Senewiratne, Secretary/External Affairs, H.E. General S.H.S. Kottegoda, Ambassador/ Sri Lanka Embassy in Bangkok, Mr. A.L.M. Lafeer, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission, Sri Lanka Embassy in Bangkok, Mrs. Shanika Dissanayake, Actg. Director General/East Asia & Pacific of Ministry of External Affairs, Mr. Sumedha Ponnamperuma, Deputy Director of the Department of Commerce, Mr. C.D.W. Jayawardana, Counsellor, Sri Lanka Embassy of Bangkok.
In the course of Secretary Senewiratne’s official tour to Thailand, she paid a visit to the Embassy and spent considerable time in discussion with members of the staff.
