Actg. Foreign Minister Dr. Harsha de Silva during a telephone conversation last night (28th September) with the Actg. Foreign Minister of Maldives Mr. Mohamed Hussain Shareef expressed Sri Lanka’s concern on the explosion which took place on 28th September, 2015 on the boat carrying the President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim. He conveyed wishes for the speedy recovery of the First Lady of Maldives and for the good health and well-being of the President of Maldives.

Media Release on two missing SL pilgrims
Following reports on the stampede last week in Mina/Mecca in Saudi Arabia two Sri Lankan hajj pilgrims have been reported missing since 24th of September 2015.
The Consular Affairs Division of the Ministry informed the Sri Lanka Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and Sri Lankan Consulate General in Jeddah to locate the whereabouts of the missing persons.

Sadiq presented the Letter of Credence accrediting him as Sri Lanka’s Permanent Representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), to the Director General of the OPCW, His Excellency Ahmet Üzümcü at the Headquarters in the Hague today.

Sri Lanka and the USA today (29 September) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Rule of Law Capacity Building Assistance. The MoU was signed by US Ambassador Atul Keshap and Actg. Foreign Minister Dr. Harsha de Silva, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Colombo.
