Hon. Julia Gillard, Prime Minister of Australia and Partner Mr. Tim Mathieson hosted Sri Lankan and Australian Cricket Teams with their families on the 1st January 2013 at the Kirribilli Admiralty House in Sydney at a Reception to mark the New Year Test Match. This Test Match is incidentally the first ever Test Match for Sri Lankan Cricketers in the Sydney Cricket Grounds.

“Year End Get- Together” at the Sri Lanka High Commission in Malaysia
The Sri Lanka High Commission in Malaysia hosted a reception, “Year End Get- Together” on 29th December 2012 to thank the expatriate community and interlocutors for their assistance to the Mission and the staff during the year 2012. Over 150 distinguished guests were invited for the reception.
Act with collective responsibility to defeat conspirators – Minister GL
Local and foreign elements that are arraigned against Sri Lanka have not changed their stance but their methodologies have been refined. In order to defeat their strategies, the Ministry of External Affairs has been assigned the task of proactively engaging with the international community. In order to achieve success everybody should act with a collective sense of responsibility, said External Affairs Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris at a ceremony attended by the staff of the Ministry of External Affairs to launch the New Year Programme.
Sri Lanka and Canada to work together against Human Smuggling
Canada’s Minister for Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism Jason Kenney called on External Affairs Minister Prof G.L. Pieris yesterday. It was noted that a ministerial level visit from Canada was taking place after three years and the two ministers welcomed the opportunity for a candid exchange of views on a range of bilateral issues.
