Embassy and the Sri Lankan community in the Greater Washington area celebrated Christmas at a colorful ceremony at the Embassy on December 10, 2010. Those attending included members of the Sri Lanka-America Catholic Association and representatives of other Sri Lankan associations.

Ambassador of Sri Lanka Hosts Holiday Reception for US Government Officials
Sri Lanka’s Ambassador Jaliya Wickramasuriya hosted a holiday reception at his official residence Dec. 9 for senior officials from the White House, the U.S. State Department, the US Defense Department, as well as non-government organizations, think tanks and U.S. companies.
Sri Maha Bodhi sapling presented to Nyaungdone Monastery in Yangon
A handing over ceremony of sacred Bo saplings was held at the Nyaungdone Monastery on 09th December 2010 at 4.00 pm. by 90 member Sri Lankan pilgrimage group led by the chief monk Rev. Assaji Thero. Bo sapling that was brought by the group was presented to the Chief Syadaw Bhadantha Thawbana of the Nyaungdone Monastery by Nirmala Paranavitana, Charge d ‘ Affairs of the Embassy of Sri Lanka. Myanmar monks from other monasteries in Yangon and devotees of the Monastery and the staff of the Embassy were also present at the ceremony.

The Consulate General of Sri Lanka celebrated the beginning of the Christmas Season on the 5th of December, 2010 at the Consulate General premises. The annual Christmas Celebration is an initiative of the Consul General, Mr. Buddhi Athauda, whose aim is to bring together people of all religious faiths among the Sri Lankan Expatriate Community living in Germany, the Consular Corps., and friends of Sri Lanka to one place to enjoy the spirit of Christmas.
Belgian Economic delegation upbeat following visit to Sri Lanka
The Belgian business delegation which included over 50 representatives from 40 companies who visited Sri Lanka for 'Belgian Week 2010' held from November 22-26 to explore economic and investment possibilities, have expressed optimism on the country’s business climate and the prospect of their doing business in Sri Lanka. The mission was organized as a collaborative effort by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Belgium, the Embassy of Belgium in New Delhi and the Consulate of Belgium in Colombo.
