The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Stockholm promoted Sri Lanka tourism at the Senior Fair held in Stockholm on 02-04 October 2018. The Senior Fair is Sweden's largest meeting place for active seniors in the country.
The Sri Lanka stand was inaugurated with the participation of three Swedish tour operators who are interested in promoting Sri Lanka tourism. During the three-day Fair, the Sri Lanka stand attracted approximately 350 visitors who wish to travel to Sri Lanka. Some of these senior citizens have already visited Sri Lanka several times and wished to visit again. It was apparent that Sri Lanka was sought after as an emerging destination for senior travelers.
The Sri Lanka stand also promoted Ceylon Tea and traditional Sri Lankan Herbal products, in addition to the tour packages offered by travel companies in Sri Lanka upon the Mission’s request.
The Embassy representatives also met with the tour operators exhibiting at the Senior Fair and had discussions on introducing tour packages to visit Sri Lanka. Most of the companies were already offering tour packages to Sri Lanka and expressed that Sri Lanka is fast emerging as a preferred travel destination for the Swedes.
