Sri Lanka High Commission in Singapore Ceremonially Commences Work for the Year 2024

 

The ceremonial commencement of work of the High Commission of Sri Lanka in Singapore on 1 January 2024 began with a Pirith chanting ceremony at the Chancery with the participation of Ven. Monks of Sri Lankaramaya Buddhist Temple in Singapore, led by Ven. Dr. K. Gunerathana Thero. The religious observances were concluded with the offering of Heel Dana to the maha sanga.

The Official ceremony for the New Year 2024 commenced with the hoisting of the national flag and the singing of the national anthem by the staff, which was followed by the observance of a two-minute silence in remembrance of the war heroes and those who sacrificed their lives on behalf of the motherland.  Thereafter, the staff took the “Oath of Public Servants,” pledging to work efficiently and productively.

Addressing the staff of the Mission, the Acting High Commissioner Ahamed Razee, outlined the government of Sri Lanka's policies, highlighting ongoing efforts to restructure debt and build a sustainable economic framework through fiscal stabilization and augmenting government revenue.

Emphasizing the human aspect of Mission's day-to-day work, he underscored the importance of approaching every interaction with humility, empathy, and an unwavering commitment. He also urged to ensure that the actions serve the greater good, considering it as the responsibility of all staff of the High Commission.

The official ceremony concluded with the serving of kiribath and a variety of traditional sweetmeats.
