The Sri Lankan Embassy in Jakarta organized the Sahabat Sri Lanka (Friends of Sri Lanka) program on 27 October 2023 at the Embassy’s premises. It was attended by Indonesian youth aged 17-30 years, mostly International Relations students from various universities in Indonesia.
The event commenced with the singing of the National anthems of Sri Lanka and Indonesia, followed by Sri Lankan popular songs.
The Ambassador of Sri Lanka Admiral Prof. Jayanath Colombage accompanied by the embassy staff including the Minister Counsellor (Defence) and the Second Secretary (Commercial) had a discussion about the Indian Ocean and Sri Lanka's role in protecting it. All participants actively participated in the discussion.
The Embassy staff organized a quiz on Sri Lankan tourism attractions and prizes were awarded to the winners. The participants were served refreshments and Ceylon tea.
