Sri Lanka Embassy in Jakarta Celebrates Deepavali

The Sri Lanka Embassy in Jakarta celebrated Deepavali, the Festival of Lights on 4 November 2023 at the Embassy premises.

The event was attended by a large number of representatives from Hindu community in Indonesia as well as the members of the Association of Sri Lankans Living in Indonesia (ASLI).The Embassy premises was decorated with Rangoli, traditional diyas, and garlanded photos of deities.

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Indonesia Jayanath Colombage welcomed the invitees and emphasized the value of the Deepavali festival and its relevancy to the way of life highlighting the celebration of life’s blessing – the victory of knowledge over ignorance and good over evil.

A professional bharatanatyam dancer performed the Sri Ganesha Charanam followed by religious observances and bajan. A delicious dinner was served for participants who enjoyed the celebrations with good spirit lighting diyas and firecrackers.
