The Consul General of Sri Lanka in Toronto recently attended a ceremony to felicitate the Chief Incumbent of Toronto Maha Vihara Venerable Ahangama Rathanasiri Maha Thero and Most Venerable Udupihille Wimalabuddhi Maha Thero for their inspirational religious services to the Sri Lankan Canadian Community for over sixty years. The felicitation ceremony, organized by the Sri Lankan Canadian community in Toronto was held at the Toronto Maha Viara on 07 April 2024.
The Venerable Maha Sangha from several Buddhist temples in Canada and several city council staff members in Toronto attended the ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, Consul General Rodrigo appreciated the religious services and guidance provided by both Venerable Nayake Theros to the Sri Lankan Canadian Community. He also commended the Toronto Maha Vihara for conducting a Dhamma School, meditation programmes, counseling services for the community members and supporting the community engagements in Toronto.
