Commencement of work at the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Rome, Italy for the year 2024

The Staff of the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Italy formally commenced work on Tuesday, 02 January 2024 with an official ceremony held at the Embassy.

The programme commenced with performing Buddhist rituals followed by hoisting the National Flag by Deputy Chief of Mission Ratnasingam Kohularangan. Following the singing of the National Anthem by the Embassy staff, a two minute silence was observed to commemorate war heroes and all those who sacrificed their lives on behalf of the motherland.  The oath of public servant was read in all three languages and the staff affirmed the oath.

Addressing the staff, the Deputy Chief of Mission conveyed his new year greetings to the staff and the Sri Lankan community in Italy. He thanked all staff members for their dedication in achieving the objectives of the Embassy during the past year. He stressed the importance of fulfilling duties with commitment for the utmost benefit of the Sri Lankan community in Italy. The Deputy Chief of Mission briefed on the achievements of the Embassy during the year 2023, including the inclusion of Sri Lanka in FAO Hand-in-Hand Initiative.

The official ceremony was concluded with serving traditional Sri Lankan sweetmeats.
