Chamber of Young Lankan Entrepreneurs (COYLE) Delegation Strengthens Business Ties in Jakarta, Indonesia

A delegation of 16 dynamic entrepreneurs, representing the Chamber of Young Lankan Entrepreneurs undertook a significant journey to Jakarta, Indonesia from 19to 24 September 2023. The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jakarta facilitated the delegation aiming to foster economic collaboration allowing the delegation to explore opportunities with the Indonesian business community.

On 21 September 2023, the delegation had the privilege to visit the Permanent Trade Exhibition at the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia. This was followed by a fruitful B2B discussion with a prominent pharmaceutical sector company in Indonesia setting the stage for potential partnerships.

On 22 September 2023, a business gathering was organized by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Jakarta at the embassy premises.The event was attended by more than 70 enthusiastic Indonesians from the business community representing key associations such as KADIN (Indonesia Chamber of Commerce and Industry), HIPMI (Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association), APINDO (Indonesian Entrepreneurs Association), and GAPMMI (Indonesian Food and Beverage Producers Association).

The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Indonesia and ASEAN Admiral Prof. Jayanath Colombage addressed the business gathering giving an in-depth background of business opportunities for both countries. He highlighted that Indonesia is a country of opportunities for those who aspire to link up with the business world with special reference to the growing middle class and the gigantic market. In Indonesia, there is nearly 229.9 million people which is about 88% of the total population, who like to spend money on traveling and shopping.

The Chamber of Young Lankan Entrepreneurs presented a comprehensive overview of business opportunities to their Indonesian counterparts. The event was a resounding success as Indonesian business leaders warmly received the proposals, paving the way for future collaborations and fruitful partnerships. This exchange underscored the potential for mutually beneficial economic ties between Sri Lanka and Indonesia.
