A Sanghika Dana and chanting of Seth Pirith by Venerable members of Buddhist clergy to invoke blessings on Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Belgium and the European Union Grace Asirwatham took place on 14 September 2019 at the Brussels Buddhist Centre. The event was held to coincide with Binara Full Moon Poya Day.
Delivering an Anusasana, Chief Incumbent of Mahamevna Meditation Centre the Netherlands Ven. Kurunegala Anandaghosa Thero stated that the Ambassador has an important task to represent Sri Lanka at the European Union and Belgium and called upon the Sri Lankan community to unite and work together to promote Sri Lanka.
Ambassador Asirwatham in her speech stated that she was committed to foster unity among Sri Lankans of all communities and to receive the blessings of the Buddhist clergy for this important task. She also called upon Sri Lankans to contribute to the economic development of their motherland.
The Sanghika Dana was followed by the chanting of Seth Pirith and the offering of pirikara to the clergy. Honorary Consuls of Sri Lanka in Antwerp and Luxembourg, members of Christian clergy and a large gathering of Sri Lankans in Belgium attended the event.
