YWCA Diplomatic International Charity Bazaar – 2013

Thailand’s largest annual international Charity Bazaar making its sixth decade this year held its 60th annual charity show at the Central World Live Hall and Zen Gallery on 30th Nov. and 1st Dec. 2013 from 10.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m.

            The HRH Princess Soamsawali of the Royal Family inaugurated the Charity Bazaar on 29th Nov. 2013 afternoon and spent the whole evening visiting and purchasing various products of different countries. She also spent 10 to 15 minutes approximately purchasing Sri Lankan tea, handicrafts and jewellery products from Sri Lankan stall.

            The famous products of 40 countries were displayed and large number of diplomatic community members and unprecedented crowd from all walks of life of Bangkok metropolitan participated with much enthusiasm hunting for discounted products of various countries.

            Most looked after products with competitive prices were sold particularly at the pavilions of China, France, Syria, Myanmar, Iran, India and Sri Lanka etc. The world famous wine varieties and cheese varieties were sold at Denmark, Netherlands, Switzerland and Italy stalls.

            The members of the diplomatic corps and the Thai customers who are familiar with the Sri Lankan taste and the identification were eager to purchase world famous Ceylon Tea and few other Sri Lankan tea varieties along with the Sri Lankan footwear, handicrafts and gem and jewellery items from Sri Lankan pavilion. It is noteworthy that Ceylon Tea provided by Sri Lanka Tea Board for this Annual Charity Bazaar has earned a remarkable reputation amongst the Thai tea loving customers. The members of the Sri Lanka Embassy and Seva Vanitha Unit were able to arrange Sri Lankan products for the bazaar with the support of Sri Lanka Export Development Board.

            The YWCA Charity Bazaar organized by the diplomatic spouses from international Embassies and Young Women’s Christian Association of Bangkok, of which the proceeds earmarked for charity purposes has been held since 1954 drawing the renewed interests of diplomatic corps, foreigners living in Bangkok and the people of the Kingdom of Thailand.
