The Day of Vesak was celebrated by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Lebanon on 28 and 29 April 2018.
The event was organized by the Embassy in collaboration with the Bodu Ekamuthuwa of Lebanon, the Sri Lanka Army contingent at UNIFIL in Nakura and the Sri Lankan community living in Lebanon. The chancery premises were decorated with traditional Vesak lanterns, Buddhist flags and colorful lights.
The morning programme started with a Dhamma sermon by Ven. Uninduwela Sirisumana Thero who had been flown from Sri Lanka specially for the Vesak Programme and an alms giving at the UNIFIL Sri Lankan Army camp in Nakura.
The evening programme was held at the Embassy, followed by a Bhodhi puja by Ven. Uninduwela Sirisumana Thero. The program started with the welcome speech by Mr. T. Luxmidharan , Second Secretary (Labour) of the Embassy. Mr. P. Ariyasena , Counselor (SLBFE) speaking on behalf of the Ambassador stressed the importance and value of the Vesak day.
This event was attended by approximately 300 devotees. All participants were served with tea and snacks.
