H.E. Vikram Misri, the new Ambassador of India to China paid a courtesy visit to H.E. the Ambassador Dr. Karunasena Kodituwakku on 12th February 2019.
Ambassador Misri is a career diplomat from the 1989 batch of the Indian Foreign Service and he has served in various capacities at the Government of India and various Indian overseas missions. Before being appointed to China as the Ambassador, he was the Ambassador to Spain from August 2014 to August 2016 and to Myanmar from August 2016 to December 2018. Prior to those postings, H.E. Vikram Misri was the Deputy High Commissioner of India in Sri Lanka during September 2008 – September 2011, the critical time of the Sri Lanka’s history.
Recalling his fond memories in Sri Lanka, Ambassador Misri highlighted Sri Lanka as one of his most favourite work places during his career. He briefed his active involvement both professional and personal coordination he provided to the then government and other relevant agencies in the fields of Rehabilitation, Reconciliation and development. Further he reminded his participation in the activities related to diplomatic, social and commercial sectors and as a whole, it revealed his positive attitude on Sri Lanka.
Further, he has served as the Private Secretary to three Prime Ministers namely Mr. I.K. Gujral, Dr. Manmohan Singh and Mr. Narendra Modi, a unique experience to any public servant.
