The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Washington D.C. celebrated Christmas on 12 December 2023 at the Chancery premises. The Embassy marks important religious events of all four major religions observed in Sri Lanka – Buddhist, Hindu, Islamic and Christian – each year.
This year’s celebration was held under the patronage of Ambassador Mahinda Samarasinghe with the participation of all staff of the Mission. Monsignor John Paul Pedrera of the Apostolic Nunciature in Washington D.C. officiated and delivered a Christmas message from the Papal Nuncio Cardinal Christophe Pierre and also offered a prayer for the Sri Lankan people, the Embassy and its personnel.
