The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Warsaw in association with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau participated in the 25th International Travel Show - TT Warsaw 2017, which was held from 23 to 25 November 2017 in the Palace of Culture and Science.
TT Warsaw is a major international event for the tourism industry, focused on establishing commercial and business contacts with businesses from Poland and abroad. The event offers an exceptional opportunity for countries around the world to showcase themselves as tourist destinations, and also to promote Poland’s tourism potential on the international stage.
Sri Lanka was represented at the show by 10 leading tour companies: Viz, NKAR Travel and Tours (Pvt) Ltd., Exotic Holidays International (Pvt) Ltd., Green Holiday Centre, Asian Escapes, Tropical Asia Tours, Jetwing Travels, George Stuart Travel Ltd., Tangerine Group of Hotels, Sunway Holidays, and Ayubowan Tours and Travels.
The Sri Lankan stand at the TT Warsaw was inaugurated by Sri Lanka's Ambassador to Poland, Tissa Wijeratne, by lighting the traditional oil lamp. Embassy officials, Ms. Shirani Herath, Representative of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and representatives of the Sri Lankan travel companies / tour operators participated in the ceremonial opening at the Sri Lankan stand.
The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau along with the Sri Lankan and Polish Travel companies and tour operators, promoted tour packages for Sri Lanka. Many visitors frequented the Sri Lankan stand and inquired about interesting sites and activities in the country. Tourist brochures in Polish and English showcasing Sri Lanka's heritage, scenery, wildlife and festival were distributed among the visitors. Tea was also promoted at the fair and large crowds gathered at the stand to taste a cup of "Ceylon Tea".
A video on Sri Lanka’s beauty was continuously played during the 3-day fair.
The improvement of the economic status of the Poles and their curiosity about the world are sparking interest in travel and tourism. This interest has triggered a revival of domestic travel agencies, which are welcoming foreign business partners and expanding outbound travel offers.
