The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Türkiye ceremoniously commenced its official work for the new year on 02 January 2025.
The day commenced with the hoisting of the national flag of Sri Lanka, symbolizing the country’s pride and sovereignty. This was followed by the singing of the national anthem by the Embassy staff and their family members, who also play an important role in supporting the Embassy’s activities. In a poignant moment of reflection, a two-minute silence was observed to honour and pay respect to all those who have selflessly sacrificed their lives for Sri Lanka’s independence, security, and prosperity.
In alignment with the national commitment to sustainability and progress, all Sri Lankan staff members of the Embassy reaffirmed their dedication to rebuilding the nation by taking the "Clean Sri Lanka” Oath.
Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Türkiye, Hasanthi Urugodawatte Dissanayake addressed the staff with an inspiring message of motivation, commitment and importance of creativity. She highlighted the significant role of the Embassy staff in advancing Sri Lanka's interests and fostering bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Türkiye as well as the accredited countries, Georgia and Ukraine. Moreover, the importance of contributing effectively and efficiently in carrying out the mandate of the Embassy, aligning their efforts with the overarching goal of nation-building was highlighted.
The Ambassador also conveyed her best wishes to the staff and their families for the new year and underscored the significance of teamwork, urging the staff to continue working cohesively and diligently to achieve Sri Lanka’s national objectives.
The ceremony marked the beginning of another year of dedicated service by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Türkiye, reaffirming its commitment to promoting Sri Lanka’s interests abroad, strengthening diplomatic ties with Türkiye, Georgia and Ukraine, while also providing timely consular services to Sri Lankans in the 03 countries, and thereby contributing to the socio-economic progress of the motherland.
