The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Oslo commenced work for the New Year 2021 with a ceremony held at the Embassy on 04 January 2021.
Ambassador Godfrey Cooray hoisted the National Flag followed by singing of the National Anthem by the staff. Two- minute silence was observed in remembrance of the war heroes and others who sacrificed their lives on behalf of the motherland and the Oath of the public servants was taken by all.
Ambassador in his speech thanked the staff and commended for their outstanding work in 2020 successfully amid challenges brought by the Covid-19 pandemic. He also spoke of the need for the public servants to carry out Government policies enhancing the productivity at work. The Ambassador specifically pointed out the importance of productive citizenry, happy family, a disciplined society and a prosperous nation according to the policy statement of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa "vistas of prosperity and Splendor".
