The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Lebanon commenced work for the year 2020 with a ceremonial programme held at Embassy premises on 01 January 2020.
At the commencement of the ceremony, Ambassador Shani Calyaneratne Karunaratne hoisted the National Flag of Sri Lanka at the Chancery premises followed by singing of the National Anthem of Sri Lanka by the Embassy staff. A two-minute silence was observed in remembrance of the war heroes and others who sacrificed their lives on behalf of the motherland.
The Oath of the public servants was taken by the Ambassador and the staff members. Addressing the staff, Ambassador thanked the staff for the cooperation extended to her during the past year and requested to further enhance the individual as well as institutional performance whilst best serving the Sri Lankan migrants who live in Lebanon. In her remarks, Ambassador highlighted the need for the utmost contribution of the public servants to achieve four folded outcome that mainly aimed at ten key policies related to the policy statement of the President of Sri Lanka. Ambassador concluded her speech wishing for strength and courage to all members of the staff to form and maintain a happy family, productive citizenry and disciplined society.
The programme concluded with a scrumptious traditional brunch comprising milk rice and sweets marking the dawn of the New Year 2020.
