Sri Lanka’s State Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs Niroshan Perera, attends EDCF 30th Anniversary Conference in Seoul

On the invitation of the Government of the Republic of Korea, the State Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs of Sri Lanka Niroshan Perera participated in the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) 30th anniversary conference ‘Shaping the Future with EDCF and KSP’ organised by the Ministry of Strategy and Finance of Korea in association with the Korea EXIM Bank from 04-06 September 2017 at the Grand InterContinental Parnas in Seoul.  The Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea Lee Nak-yeon, the 1st Vice Minister of Strategy and Finance Ko Hyoung-kwon as well as Ministers, Deputy Ministers and distinguished invitees from EDCF partnership countries participated in the inauguration on 05th September 2017. 

On the sidelines of the Conference, State Minister Perera had discussions with the Director General of Statistics Korea Cho Chang-sang with regard to possible cooperation with the Sri Lanka Department of Statistics.  The State Minister also conducted investment related discussions with some private sector conglomerates in Korea.  

Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Education Ms. M.M. Wehella made a presentation on the topic of ‘2016/2017 KSP with Sri Lanka: The establishment of ICT hubs for secondary education project in Sri Lanka’ at the conference.  The Korean Government’s development cooperation with Sri Lanka under EDCF spans a wide spectrum including infrastructure, governance, education, industry, fisheries, energy, agriculture, human resource development and public administration.  Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Manisha Gunasekera and senior officials of the Embassy were associated with the visit.
