The Minister of Skills Development and Vocational Training Mahinda Samarasinghe undertook a visit to the Republic of Korea from 11 to 14 December 2016 on the invitation of the Korean Government.On the visit, the Minister met with the President of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Kim In Shik, 2nd Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Ahn Chongghee, Vice President of the Korea Institute of Ocean Science & Technology (KIOST) Park Youngje, and Senior Executive Director of the Korea EXIM Bank Kim Sungtaek.The discussions focussed on bilateral cooperation and issues of mutual interest, including Korean development cooperation in the areas of skills development, capacity building and vocational training in Sri Lanka, including potential support for the Ocean University of Sri Lanka.Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Manisha Gunasekera and other officials were associated with the visit.
