Sri Lankan Embassy in Washington D.C. Organizes a Buddha Pooja and Dhamma Sermon to Observe Vap Poya Day

The Sri Lankan Embassy in Washington D.C. organized a Buddha Pooja and Dhamma Sermon on 30 October 2020 at the Embassy premises to coincide with the Vap Poya day which marks the end of Vas-Rainy Retreat, beginning from Esala to Vap.  The Buddha Pooja was conducted Judiciary Prelate & Chief Incumbent of Maryland Buddhist Vihara by Ven. Katugastota Uparatana Nayaka Thero while the Dhamma Sermon was delivered by Ven. Nedagamuwe Pannaloka Thero.

Conducting the Buddha Pooja, Ven. Katugastota Uparatana Nayaka Thero invoked blessings on the people of Sri Lanka to overcome the current situation in the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Delivering the Dhamma Sermon, Ven. Nedagamuwe Pannaloka Thero highlighted the importance and significant meritorious events took place on the occasion of Vap Poya day. Following the Dhamma Sermon, an alms-giving was offered to Venerable Maha Sangha of the Maryland Buddhist Vihara.

This event was attended by Ambassador Rodney Perera and the Mission officials.
