Sri Lankan Embassy in Jakarta Celebrates 76th Anniversary of the National  Day

Sri Lanka Embassy in Jakarta celebrated the 76th Anniversary of the Independence Day at the Embassy premises on 04 February 2024 with the participation of Sri Lankans living in Indonesia and Indonesian representatives.

The celebrations commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Indonesia Admiral Prof. Jayanath Colombage followed by singing of the national anthem. Thereafter, a two-minutes of silence was observed to commemorate war heroes and those who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland.

All participated in multi-faith religious observances conducted by venerable monks  invoking blessings which was followed by the lighting of the traditional oil lamp.

National Day massages of the president, Prime Minister and Minister of foreign affairs of Sri Lanka were read out during the event. In his remarks, Ambassador Colombage recalled the struggle and sacrifices that have been made in achieving the Independence. He also spoke of the bilateral relations and the support extended by the Indonesians and Sri Lankans living in Indonesia to the betterment of the country.

A Sri Lankan lunch was served at the end of the event.
