Sri Lankan Automobile Component Manufacturers undertook an Advance Technical Training at the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), Pune, India

The Sri Lanka Consulate General in Mumbai together with the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) organized a Tailor-made Technical training and exposure programme for the Sri Lankan Automobile Component Manufacturers / Exporters at the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), recently.

ARAI is a leading Automotive Research and Development Institution that provides automotive designs and development expertise to the Indian automotive industry to meet national and international standards. ARAI also provides programmes and technical expertise for new generation of engineers all over the world.

The Sri Lanka delegation that comprised representatives from nine (9) companies had advance training programme from 14 - 19 October 2019 at ARAI in Pune.

The objective of the programme is to upgrade the knowledge and exposure of the automobile component manufacturers on the areas of quality, standards and required certification to enhance the capabilities of the automobile component manufacturing companies to connect to the global value chain.

Currently, 40-50 companies in Sri Lanka are engaged in manufacturing a variety of rubber and metal based automobile components which need to be developed to the international standards.

The five (5) day programme also included factory visits to leading auto makers of India and Germany namely “Volkswagen India Pvt. Ltd., Tata Motors Ltd. and Mahindra & Mahindra”.
