Sri Lankan Ambassador in Nepal attends 2568th Buddha Jayanti and Lumbini Day-2024 ceremony

The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Nepal Air Chief Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana [Retd.] took part in the 2568th Buddha Jayanti and Lumbini Day-2024 ceremony in Lumbini on 23 May 2024.  The event was organized by the Lumbini Development Trust and co-hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation of Nepal.

The ceremony was graced by the Prime Minister of Nepal, Rt. Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', as chief guest. During the event, the Sri Lankan Ambassador delivered a speech emphasizing the strong historical relations between Sri Lanka and Nepal and highlighting the importance of Lumbini as the birthplace of Lord Buddha.

Ven. Buddhist monks from around the world, the Chief Minister of the Province and Ministers, Members of the Federal Parliament, Provincial Ministers, Provincial Members, and the Vice-Chairman of Lumbini Development Trust, along with many thousands of Buddhist devotees attended the event.
