The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Mumbai participated at “World Trade Expo 2019” together with popular Sri Lankan brands in India to widen its market access further. The World Trade Centre (WTC), Mumbai and All India Association of Industries (AIAI) hosted the 3rd edition of their flagship event in Mumbai, bringing together Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME’s) from 6 Indian States, trade development officials and 30 participating countries.
The Sri Lanka pavilion at the “World Trade Expo” featured Sri Lankan brands such as “Spa Ceylon, Basilur Tea, Boardpac Inc.” in addition to the Sri Lankan Airlines and the Sri Lanka Tourism. “Basilur Tea” stall at the pavilion which was attracted by many visitors displayed a wide range of the products over 70 different naturally flavored Green and Black premium Ceylon Teas. Basilur Tea which is a popular Ceylon Tea brand in India currently caters to the leading hotels including Taj, Grand Hyatt and Hyatt Regency.
Spa Ceylon, one of the leading luxury ayurveda chains in the wellness sector participated at the “World Trade Expo” for the first time. Spa Ceylon showcased their luxury ayurveda products while promoting the Spa Ceylon stores & spa’s that has over 80 global presence.
Sri Lanka Pavilion also had “Boardpac Inc.” a Sri Lankan software company which is recognized as a leading paperless meeting solutions. Boardpac Inc. has wide clientele in Mumbai including Reserve Bank of India, Bombay Stock Exchange, Taj Hotels and HDFC.
The Sri Lanka Tourism was represented by the Sri Lanka Consulate in Mumbai promoting Sri Lanka as a destination for all seasons for Indian tourists. The Sri Lanka Airlines stall at the Expo showcased its largest operational network connecting India and Sri Lanka around 181 flights per week to 14 cities in India. Consul (Commercial) of the Sri Lanka Consulate made a presentation at the “World Trade Expo” on potential and opportunities for new investors in Sri Lanka highlighting the “Port City Colombo”.
The World Trade Expo concluded with 7000 B2B meetings between MSME’s from 6 Indian States and participating countries and generated collaboration among the participants through trade, investment, tourism, technology, transfers. The “World Trade Expo” which is an effective platform to enhance trade and investment links with Indian market was attended by over 2000 delegates.
