The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Havana participated in the 40th edition of “FIHAV”- Havana International Fair held from 04-09 November 2024.
“FIHAV” is the premier event for international business and exhibitors looking forward to showcasing and promoting their products and services in Cuba. Every year, the Fair brings together thousands of international businessmen from more than 700 companies from all over the world. This is the most renowned trade fair in Cuba and the Caribbean, and is also known to be the most represented in Latin America. FIHAV brings together a diverse range of consumer goods, machinery, equipment, technology, raw materials, and services from all over the world. Moreover, the event provides a platform for exhibitors to connect with potential customers, partners, and investors, as well as to gain a better understanding of the Cuban market.
International companies from various countries, with the cooperation of the respective embassies, utilized this opportunity to promote their products. 68 countries participated in the FIHAV 2024 this year.
The Sri Lankan stall organized by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Havana promoted authentic Sri Lankan products, including Sri Lankan tea, spices, and tourism promotional items. The stall was attractively decorated with Sri Lankan crafts, cultural items, and visuals that portray the natural abundance of Sri Lanka. Promotional video clips on Ceylon Tea and tourism were also screened at the stall.
The Sri Lankan stall stood out as the most colorful and eye-catching stall, attracting many visitors. Travel agents from Latin America and the Caribbean region who visited the Sri Lanka stall with great enthusiasm expressed their eagerness to arrange tourist groups to Sri Lanka. Many tea exporters visited the stall and exchanged the contact details of the Sri Lankan tea exporting companies.
In recognition of the participation, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Cuba Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne (Rted) was invited for the Business Forum, which was held on 05 November 2024.
The Embassy is in the process of establishing connections between the interested companies and relevant Sri Lankan counterparts.
