Sri Lanka participated at the Ferien-Messe Wien International trade fair for holiday, travel and leisure held from 10-13 January 2019 in Vienna. Sri Lanka’s participation at this event was coordinated by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Austria.
The Ferien-Messe Wien, the leading trade fair for tourism in Central Europe is held at the beginning of the holiday season for holiday, travel and variety seekers, and attracts more than 800 national and international exhibitors and approximately 155,000 visitors each year.
Six companies from the hospitality, travel and wellness industry participated under the Sri Lanka Pavilion, namely, Siddhalepa Ayurvedha Health Resort, Sri Lanka Jagath Tours and Travels, Baberyn Ayurvedic Beach Resort (Pvt) Ltd, Cylon Roots,Butterfly Vacation, Lets Travels.
The Sri Lanka Pavilion was inaugurated by the Chargé d' Affaires a.i. of the Embassy and Permannet Mission for Sri Lanka in Vienna on 10 January 2019 with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp in the presence of the invitees. Traditional Sri Lankan refreshments were also served.
A Presentation on Sri Lanka as a tourist destination titled “Sri Lanka Perle des Indieshen Ozeans” (Sri Lanka pearl of the Indian Ocean) was made at the Travel Cinema at the Fair. Ceylon Tea was also promoted at the Ferien – Messe Wien.
