Sri Lanka High Commission in Islamabad organized Christmas carols service and celebrations on 20 December 2023 at the High Commission premises with the participation of the family members of the staff of the Mission and the Christian community members.
The Christmas celebrations commenced with religious observances led by His Eminence Archbishop Germano Penemote, Apostolic Nuncio to Pakistan along with Reverend Father Christiano who bestowed blessing on Sri Lanka and the people gathered, and highlighted the significance of Christmas.
Addressing the gathering, Sri Lanka's High Commissioner to Pakistan highlighted the significance of Christianity in Sri Lanka and stressed the importance of peaceful coexistence despite differences.
The celebrations featured singing of Christmas carols, dancing events performed by the staff and their children and cake cutting followed by serving refreshment and dinner.
