Sri Lanka Embassy in Turkey distributes Ramadhan aid to villages in Yaylabag

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Turkey M.R. Hassen, the staff of the Mission and with the participation of the Honorary Consuls of Sri Lanka appointed to regions in Turkey distributed Ramadhan aid packages including grocery items, dates, gift vouchers and fresh Sri Lankan snacks to the villages at “Yaylabag village in Golbasi, Ankara” on Monday, 26 April 2021.

The donation was handed over to the Headman (Mukthar) of the village Mr. Mustafa Çetin in the presence of dwellers. The Embassy was to organize an Ifthar breakfast ceremony this year, however due to the pandemic restrictions, cancelled the event and arrangements were made for the Ramadhan aid package distribution among people who need assistance during the pandemic. The gesture of the Mission staff and the Honorary Consuls of Sri Lanka was to enhance the friendship and to show the solidarity between the people of Sri Lanka and Turkey during the holy month of Ramadhan.

Picturesque Yaylabag is located near Eymir Lake in Gölbası outskirt of, Ankara. Yaylabag, which was called as a ‘village’ before 2004, was turned into a ‘neighborhood’ with a Metropolitan Municipality Law. According to the information received from Mr. Mustafa Çetin, Mukhtar of Yaylabag Neighborhood, total population is approximately 500 perhaps approximately 50 houses located in the village and make their living from agriculture and animal husbandry.
