The Embassy of Sri Lanka successfully operated a consular information desk at the Sri Lanka Day festivities held in Paris on 19 June at the 'Pagode Grande Bois de Vincennes'.
The Sri Lanka Day was organized by the ‘International Buddhist Center’, Le Bourget, headed by Rev Paravahera Chandrarathna Thero, and was declared open by the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the French Republic Prof. Kshanika Hirimburegama.The key objectives of the Sri Lanka Day were to project the image and profile of the country and to promote Sri Lankan products/food, services, and tourism from France to Sri Lanka, among others.
The Embassy consular staff provided information on passport applications, birth/ death registration, and Power of Attorney etc. to a large number of Sri Lankans. The French nationals were briefed on available visa packages including the newly introduced Golden Visa opportunity. Visitors to the information desk were also apprised of Sri Lanka's various touristic adventures and relaxed covid regulations.
Marking the special occasion, packages of medicines collected by the Sri Lankan Community association “Association Solidarite France- Sri Lanka" were handed over to the Staff of the Embassy to be sent to Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children in Colombo Sri Lanka.
The Sri Lanka Festival was a celebration of Sri Lankan culture, heritage, and arts in Paris. The event consisted of over 15 booths and stalls that promoted products made primarily in Sri Lanka like handicrafts, ornamental items and ayurvedic services. There were over 25 stalls at the Food Mart of which a few served authentic Sri Lankan food and beverages. The festival also showcased the talented ‘Sri Desi Dance’ group which is a Sri Lankan Dance team based in Paris.
The Ambassador, diplomatic staff, and other staff members of the Embassy participated in the Sri Lanka Day Festivities.
