The Embassy of Sri Lanka to Lebanon & Syria commemorated Vesak at the Embassy premises on 15 May 2022 in the presence of Sri Lankans, Lebanese and Syrians.
The highlight of the Vesak 2022 celebration was the unveiling of two photographs by world renowned photographer, Mr.Indranatha Thenuwara by Ambassador Shani Calyaneratne Karunaratne. The photographs included the Isurumuniya Temple Buddhist shrine and the Basawakkulama Lake and tri dagobas.
The diaspora observed “Atasill”, prayed and wished good health and wellbeing to all Sri Lankans, Lebanese and Syrians. The celebration included offering of flowers, incense, Gilanpasa and lighting of Vesak lanterns. On behalf of Seela Samadhi Sadaham Ekamuthuwa of Lebanon, Mahindasiri Hettiarachchi conducted a special mustard oil lamp lighting ceremony in the evening wishing prosperity and peace to Sri Lanka and Sri Lankans.
The event was organized by Seela Samadhi Sadaham Ekamuthuwa in Lebanon in coordination with Ambassador Shani Calyaneratne Karunaratne.
