Sri Lanka Embassy in Jakarta in collaboration with the Joint Apparel Association Forum of Sri Lanka (JAAF) organized a virtual networking session on 27 March 2023 to achieve a win-win situation for both countries in the apparel sector by sourcing fabric from Indonesia.
Representatives from an Indonesian fabric manufacturing company namely PT. Ocean Asia Industry Indonesia, Secretary General of JAAF Yohan Lawrence , and members of JAAF participated in this session.
In his opening remarks, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Indonesia Admiral Prof. Jayanath Colombage invited the Indonesian fabric manufacturing company to invest in Sri Lanka. Further he spoke of the current status of the joint request by Indonesia and Sri Lanka to the European Commission that allows Sri Lankan apparel exporters to import materials from Indonesia to produce apparel products in Sri Lanka and to export to EU under the Cross Regional Cumulation facility of EU-GSP Scheme.
