The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Brussels hosted a Christmas Carol event at the Sri Lanka Residence in Brussels on December 10, 2023, marking the commencement of the Christmas festive season. This occasion brought together more than 150 members of the Sri Lankan community in Belgium and Luxembourg.
Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Belgium, Luxembourg, and Head of Mission to the European Union Grace Asirwatham, in commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, highlighted the enduring principles of peace and sacrifice, emphasizing their universal relevance for the promotion of a peaceful and harmonious existence.
During the event, Rev. Pastor Daniel Costanza from the Brussels Christian Centre shared insights into the profound meaning of Christmas, focusing on the themes of peace and humanity, followed by a dedicated Christmas prayer.
The Embassy staff captivated the audience with a rendition of popular Christmas carols in Sinhala, Tamil, English, and Filipino. Their multilingual performance added a festive atmosphere to the celebration.
In the spirit of Christmas, Santa Claus entertained the children and delighted them with gifts, while the Sri Lanka Residence was adorned with festive lights and an impressive Christmas tree.
The Christmas carol event served to promote unity among the diverse members of the Sri Lankan community, bringing them together to collectively enjoy the occasion in solidarity with individuals of all faiths, emphasizing the inclusive spirit of the celebration.
