The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Brasília participated at the 46th edition of the cultural fair of the Shin Buddhist Temple (Templo Shin Budista) of Brasilia, from 31 August to 1 September 2019, at the Shin Buddhist Temple of Brasilia, for the second consecutive year.
This annual event, organized by the Shin Buddhist Temple of Brasilia in collaboration with Brazilian entrepreneurs and leading cultural associations, was held on every Saturday and Sunday during the month of August. The cultural fair included wide variety of events such musical programmes, gastronomic fairs and multicultural artistic performances. During the two days that the Embassy participated, over 5,000 visitors attended the event.
The Chief Incumbent of the temple, the Reverend Sato and Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Brazil Musthafa Jaffeer inaugurated the event on 31 August 2019 with the beating of the traditional bell, which was followed by a brief religious ceremony.
During the event, Sri Lanka’s unique culinary dishes and sweetmeats along with Ceylon tea were served to visitors at the Embassy stall. In addition, the video displays at the Sri Lankan stall, highlighted the natural beauty and major tourist attractions of the country to Brazilian attendees. The active participation of embassy staff together with their family members rendered major contribution for Sri Lanka’s presence at the annual event.
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Brasilia is organizing a series of promotional events in Brazil as part of its promotional campaign to enhance people to people contacts in collaboration with local partners in Brazil.
