Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Saudi Arabia Azmi Thassim and the Embassy officials held discussions with the newly appointed Saudi Vice Minister of Labour, Dr. Abdullah Abu Thinain and the Ministry Officials last week
At this cordial meeting, two parties discussed at length important topics regarding Sri Lankan migrant workers in the Kingdom. Vice Minister Dr. Abu Thinain and the Ministry officials also briefed the Embassy officials of the new steps that the Ministry has taken to address some of the concerns of the migrant workers in the Kingdom.
Ambassador Thassim appreciated the Ministry officials for the successful completion of the 3rd Joint Committee Meeting which was held in last February in Sri Lanka.
Two parties further discussed on the strategies on employment promotion in the Kingdom and agreed to meet periodically at official level to discuss the employment related programs.
Ambassador Thassim was accompanied by Minister Counsellor Madhuka Wickramarachchi, Counsellor Madhawa Deshapriya and the diplomatic staff of the Sri Lanka Embassy in Riyadh.
Vice Minister Dr. Abu Thinain was assisted by Deputy Minister of customer service and labor relations Aldulmajid Alrashoudi and other Ministry officials at this meeting.
