At the request of the Sri Lankan community, the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Italy conducted a mobile consular service in Lecce (Puglia region) on 02-03 September 2023 for the Sri Lankan community residing/working in the Puglia Region under the guidance of Ambassador Jagath Wellawatte.
The first-ever consular mobile service in Lecce conducted by the Embassy provided the opportunity for the embassy to establish good relations with the Sri Lankan community, especially with the Sri Lankan Tamil community, which constitutes a considerable number in the region.
During the mobile service, the mission served around 250 Sri Lankans who applied for new passports, renewal of passports, passport endorsements, emergency passports, birth registrations, citizenship certificates, power of attorney, attestations, no objection letters (Nulla Osta) for marriages, police reports, translations of Sri Lankan documents.
Further, the Ambassador had courtesy meetings with Mayor of Lecce Carlo M. Salvemini, and Questore of Lecce Vincenzo Massimo Modeo on 01 September 2023 (and Deputy Prefect Dr. Antonio Giaccari and Deputy Chief of Cabinet Dr. Guendalina Federico on 02 September 2023. At the meetings, the Ambassador discussed matters related to the Sri Lankan migrant workers living in the Puglia region.
Further, the Mayor of Lecce briefed on the Help Desk Programme established by the Mayor's Office to assist the migrant workers in Lecce which has reduced the involvement and frauds of intermediates/agents.
The ambassador proposed to the mayor to establish a cultural and vocational training center in Lecce for the Sri Lankan migrants and assured the fullest cooperation of the Embassy to the Lecce authorities for their endeavors being taken by them for the betterment of the Sri Lankan migrants in Lecce.

තානාපති කාර්යාලය විසින් පවත්වනු ලබන Lecce හි ප්‍රථම කොන්සියුලර් ජංගම සේවය ශ්‍රී ලාංකික ප්‍රජාව සමඟ, විශේෂයෙන් කලාපය තුළ සැලකිය යුතු සංඛ්‍යාවක් සිටින ශ්‍රී ලාංකීය දෙමළ ප්‍රජාව සමඟ යහපත් සබඳතා ඇති කර ගැනීමට තානාපති කාර්යාලයට අවස්ථාව සලසා දුන්නේය.
ජංගම සේවාව අතරතුර, නව විදේශ ගමන් බලපත්‍ර, විදේශ ගමන් බලපත්‍ර අලුත් කිරීම, විදේශ ගමන් බලපත්‍ර අනුමත කිරීම්, හදිසි ගමන් බලපත්‍ර, උප්පැන්න ලියාපදිංචි කිරීම්, පුරවැසි සහතික, ඇටෝර්නි බලපත්‍ර, සහතික කිරීම්, විවාහ සඳහා විරෝධතා නොමැති ලිපි (නුල්ලා ඔස්තා), පොලිස් වාර්තා සහ ශ්‍රී ලංකා ලේඛන පරිවර්තන සඳහා ඉල්ලුම් කළ ශ්‍රී ලාංකිකයන් 250 කට පමණ තානාපති කාර්යාලය මගින් සේවය සලසන ලදී.
තවද, තානාපතිවරයා විසින් 2023 සැප්තැම්බර් 1 වන දින Lecce හි නගරාධිපති Carlo M. Salvemini හා Lecce හි පොලිස් කොමසාරිස් Vincenzo Massimo Modeo සහ 2023 සැප්තැම්බර් 2 වන දින නියෝජ්‍ය පොලිස් කොමසාරිස් ආචාර්ය Antonio Giaccari හා අමාත්‍ය මණ්ඩලයේ නියෝජ්‍ය ප්‍රධානී ආචාර්ය Guendalina Federico සමඟ සුහද හමුවක් පවත්වන ලදී. මෙම රැස්වීම්වලදී තානාපතිවරයා Puglia කලාපයේ වෙසෙන ශ්‍රී ලාංකික සංක්‍රමණික ශ්‍රමිකයන් සම්බන්ධ කරුණු සාකච්ඡා කළේය.
තවද, Lecce හි නගරාධිපතිවරයා විසින් Lecce හි සංක්‍රමණික සේවකයින්ට උපකාර කිරීම සඳහා නගරාධිපති කාර්යාලය විසින් පිහිටුවන ලද උපකාරක වැඩ සටහන පිළිබඳව දැනුවත් කරන ලද අතර එමඟින් අතරමැදියන්ගේ/නියෝජිතයින්ගේ සම්බන්ධකම් සහ වංචාවන් අවම කර ගැනීමට සමත්ව ඇත.
ශ්‍රී ලාංකික සංක්‍රමණිකයන් සඳහා සංස්කෘතික හා වෘත්තීය පුහුණු මධ්‍යස්ථානයක් Lecce හි ස්ථාපිත කිරීමට තානාපතිවරයා නගරාධිපතිවරයාට යෝජනා කළ අතර Lecce හි සිටින ශ්‍රී ලාංකික සංක්‍රමණිකයින්ගේ අභිවෘද්ධිය සඳහා ඔවුන් විසින් ගනු ලබන උත්සාහයන් සඳහා තානාපති කාර්යාලයේ පූර්ණ සහයෝගය Lecce හි බලධාරීන්ට ලබා දෙන බවට සහතික කළේය.

Lecce இல், தூதரகத்தால் நடத்தப்பட்ட முதல் நடமாடும் கொன்ஸ்யூலர் சேவையை வழங்கியமை, இலங்கை சமூகத்துடன், குறிப்பாக Lecce இல், கணிசமான அளவில் வாழும் இலங்கை தமிழர்களுடன், நல்லிணக்கத் தொடர்புகளை நிறுவுவதற்கான சிறந்ததொரு வாய்ப்பாக அமைந்தது.
