Sri Lanka Deputy High Commissioner-designate to Deputy High Commissioner of Sri Lanka in Chennai-India assumed duties

Deputy High Commissioner (DHC) designate of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to South India.  Dr. Doraisamy Venkateshwaran formally assumed duties on 12 April 2021 at the Deputy High Commission Office in Chennai.

Dr. Venkateshwaran initiated with a “Pooja” at the Buddha temple which is located in the chancery premises.

DHC mentioned that the Government of Sri Lanka expects to focus Political Diplomacy, Economical Diplomacy, Consular Services, Cultural and Religion Relationship and Science and Technology in addition to that to focus on Repatriation of Refugees.

DHC informed that he met relevant personalities and discussed about reopening the Maha Bodhi Center in Chennai which is to be provided facilities to pilgrims that currently closed due to pandemic.

Dr. D Venkateshwaran served in several government organizations as the Chairman and the Board Members of several public departments and also as a Coordinating Secretary to the Hon. Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksha in 2020.

DHC also expressed that other than Tamil Nadu also to reinforce the bond and relationship with other five states Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Karnatake, Telangana and Puducherry with GoSL.
