A delegation led by Parliamentarian. Hector Appuhamy, Monitoring MP of the Ministry of Telecommunication, Foreign Employment and Sports concluded a three-day official visit to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on 4 March 2019.
The delegation held a range of discussions with the Embassy and other officials concerning the welfare facilities for the Sri Lankan migrant workers during this visit. The Embassy updated the delegation on the current processes in place focusing on migrant worker welfare, and the delegation inspected the facilities available in Riyadh for Sri Lankan migrant workers who are in transit to return to Sri Lanka.
The delegation also met with the Sri Lankan professional groups in Riyadh and held discussions on a wide range of topics which are related to welfare of the migrant workers in Saudi Arabia. These discussions also focused on steps that could be taken to enhance employment opportunities for Sri Lankan migrant workers in Saudi Arabia.
The delegation comprised Parliamentarian Hector Appuhamy Monitoring MP of the Ministry of Telecommunication, Foreign Employment and Sports, M.R.C.B. Ekanayake, Deputy General Manager, Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment and Abdul Haq Mohamed Shibly, Liaison Officer, Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment.
