The Second China International Tea Fair was held in Chengdu, China with the participation of more than 750 Chinese and international Tea Companies. Mr. Sumudu Walakuluge, Consul of the Sri Lanka Consulate delivered a promotional presentation of Ceylon Tea as the guest speaker of the forum, followed by the Tea Fair. Sichuan Province is one of China’s largest tea producing regions and world famous for its “Tea House Culture”. Mr. Sumudu Walakuluge invited Chinese tea companies and buyers to share common business interests with reputed Sri Lankan tea companies that are distinguished as the world’s best black tea producers. With the support of the Consulate, Sunshine Tea Company (Zesta) is planning to supply Ceylon Tea for 216 of Carrefour supermarkets in mainland China. Sichuan Tea Association has agreed to send a group of investors and members of reputed Chinese tea companies to Sri Lanka at the end of this year.
