The Embassy hosted a diplomatic reception at the Rathaus Wien (Vienna City Hall) on 13 February 2023 commemorating the 75th Anniversary of Independence of Sri Lanka.
First President of the Parliament of the Province of Vienna Ernst Woller graced the event as the guest of honour. The reception was attended by several dignitaries including First Vice President of the Tyrolean Parliament Mag. Sophia Kircher, VIPs, officials from the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, representatives from UN bodies, Ambassadors and Permanent Representatives based in Vienna, entrepreneurs, tour operators and travel agents, as well as the print and electronic media.
In his welcome speech Ambassador and Permanent Representative Majintha Jayesinghe drew attention to Sri Lanka’s achievements, emphasizing how the joy and pride evoked by the monumental milestone in our history brings a sense of courage and confidence to collectively resolve the country’s challenges and to promote the image and interests of Sri Lanka. The Ambassador requested invitees to visit Sri Lanka and experience the brilliance of our resplendent island for themselves.
Recalling the long and cherished special relationship which has existed between Austria and Sri Lanka since ancient times, Ambassador Jayesinghe noted that over the years, cooperation between our two countries has grown exponentially covering a multitude of areas of common interests and concerns. The Ambassador went on to state that the mutually beneficial journey continues and extended his appreciation to the Government and the friendly people of Austria, and other accredited countries for assisting Sri Lanka.
Underlining Sri Lanka’s relations with Austria, First President Ernst Woller mentioned the importance of promoting connectivity between Vienna and cities in Sri Lanka. He alluded to his special connection to Sri Lanka and highlighted his frequent visits to Sri Lanka, having travelled to the country more than ten times since his first visit in 1980.
Commemorating the 75th Anniversary of Independence, mementos were presented on behalf of His Worship Michael Ludwig, Mayor and Governor of Vienna and to the Guest of Honour Ernst Woller. Mementos were also presented to Ljiljana Cassim, Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in the Republic of Serbia and Edith Hornig, Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Styria and Carinthia in Austria, for their significant contribution towards strengthening relations between Sri Lanka and their respective country and region for 28 and 18 years respectively. Founder of the Channa-Upuli Performing Arts Foundation Dr. Channa Wijewardena was also appreciated for 25 years of contribution towards the promotion and strengthening of cultural relations with foreign countries through Sri Lanka’s missions overseas.
Invitees were enthralled by the traditional dance performance, as well as the colourful and elegant costumes of the Channa – Upuli Performing Arts Foundation troupe. Guests were also able to savour an array of delicious Sri Lankan cuisine and the world’s finest Ceylon Tea, creating a truly Sri Lankan ambience.

வியன்னாவில் 75வது சுதந்திர தினத்தை இலங்கை நினைவு கூர்ந்தது
இலங்கையின் தேசிய சுதந்திர தினத்தின் 75 வது ஆண்டு நிறைவை நினைவுகூரும் வகையில், தூதரகம் 2023 பெப்ரவரி 13ஆந் திகதி ரதௌஸ் வீன் (வியன்னா நகர மண்டபம்) இல் இராஜதந்திர வரவேற்பை நடாத்தியது.
வியன்னா மாகாணத்தின் முதல் நாடாளுமன்றத் தலைவர் எர்ன்ஸ்ட் வோலர் இவ்விழாவில் கௌரவ விருந்தினராகக் கலந்து கொண்டார். இந்த வரவேற்பு நிகழ்ச்சியில், டைரோலியன் நாடாளுமன்றத்தின் முதல் துணைத் தலைவர் சோபியா கிர்ச்சர், மிக முக்கியமான நபர்கள், ஐரோப்பிய மற்றும் சர்வதேச விவகாரங்களுக்கான மத்திய அமைச்சக அதிகாரிகள், ஐ.நா. அமைப்புக்களின் பிரதிநிதிகள், வியன்னாவில் உள்ள தூதுவர்கள் மற்றும் நிரந்தரப் பிரதிநிதிகள், தொழில்முனைவோர், சுற்றுலா நடத்துநர்கள் மற்றும் பயண முகவர்கள், அச்சு மற்றும் மின்னணு ஊடகங்கள் உள்ளிட்ட பல முக்கியஸ்தர்கள் கலந்துகொண்டனர்.
தூதுவரும் நிரந்தரப் பிரதிநிதியுமான மஜிந்த ஜயசிங்க, தனது வரவேற்பு உரையில், இலங்கையின் சாதனைகள் குறித்து கவனத்தை ஈர்த்து, எமது வரலாற்றின் மகத்தான மைல்கல் மூலம் வெளிப்படுத்தப்பட்ட மகிழ்ச்சியும் பெருமையும் எவ்வாறு நாட்டின் சவால்களை கூட்டாகத் தீர்ப்பதற்கும், மேம்படுத்துவதற்கும் தைரியத்தையும் நம்பிக்கையையும் தருவதாக வலியுறுத்தினார். தூதுவர் அழைப்பாளர்களை இலங்கைக்கு விஜயம் செய்து, எமது ஒளிமயமான தீவின் பிரகாசத்தை அனுபவிக்குமாறு கேட்டுக்கொண்டார்.
ஒஸ்ட்ரியாவுக்கும் இலங்கைக்கும் இடையில் பழங்காலத்திலிருந்தே நிலவி வரும் நீண்ட மற்றும் நேசத்துக்குரிய சிறப்புமிக்க உறவை நினைவுகூர்ந்த தூதுவர் மஜிந்த ஜயசிங்க, பல வருடங்களாக எமது இரு நாடுகளுக்கிடையிலான ஒத்துழைப்பு பல பொதுவான நலன்கள் மற்றும் அக்கறைகளை உள்ளடக்கியதாக அதிவேகமாக வளர்ந்துள்ளதாகக் குறிப்பிட்டார். பரஸ்பரம் நன்மை பயக்கும் எமது பயணம் தொடர்வதாகத் தெரிவித்த தூதுவர், இலங்கைக்கு உதவியதற்காக அரசாங்கத்திற்கும், ஒஸ்ட்ரியா மற்றும் ஏனைய அங்கீகாரம் பெற்ற நாடுகளின் நட்பு மக்களுக்கும் தனது பாராட்டுகளைத் தெரிவித்தார்.
ஒஸ்ட்ரியாவுடனான இலங்கையின் உறவுகளை சுட்டிக் காட்டிய எர்ன்ஸ்ட் வோலர், வியன்னாவிற்கும் இலங்கையில் உள்ள நகரங்களுக்கும் இடையிலான தொடர்பை மேம்படுத்துவதன் முக்கியத்துவத்தைக் குறிப்பிட்டார். 1980 இல் தனது முதல் விஜயத்தின் பின்னர் 10 தடவைகளுக்கு மேல் நாட்டிற்குப் பயணம் செய்து,இலங்கைக்கான தனது விஜயங்களை முன்னிலைப்படுத்தியதன் மூலம் இலங்கையுடனான தனது சிறப்பான தொடர்பை முதல் ஜனாதிபதி வோலர் குறிப்பிட்டார்.
இலங்கையின் தேசிய சுதந்திர தினத்தின் 75 வது ஆண்டு நிறைவை நினைவுகூரும் வகையில், வியன்னாவின் மேயரும் ஆளுநருமான மைக்கேல் லுட்விக் மற்றும் கௌரவ விருந்தினருக்கு எர்ன்ஸ்ட் வோலரின் சார்பாக நினைவுச் சின்னங்கள் வழங்கப்பட்டன. முறையே 28 மற்றும் 18 ஆண்டுகளாக இலங்கைக்கும் அந்தந்த நாடு மற்றும் பிராந்தியத்திற்கும் இடையிலான உறவுகளை வலுப்படுத்துவதில் குறிப்பிடத்தக்க பங்களிப்பை வழங்கியதற்காக, செர்பியா குடியரசிற்கான இலங்கையின் கௌரவத் தூதுவர் லில்ஜானா காசிம் மற்றும் ஒஸ்ட்ரியாவின் ஸ்டைரியா மற்றும் கரிந்தியாவில் உள்ள இலங்கையின் கௌரவத் தூதுவர் எடித் ஹார்னிக் ஆகியோருக்கும் நினைவுச் சின்னங்கள் வழங்கப்பட்டன. வெளிநாடுகளில் உள்ள இலங்கைத் தூதரகங்கள் மூலம் வெளிநாடுகளுடன் கலாசார உறவுகளை மேம்படுத்தி, வலுப்படுத்துவதற்காக வழங்கிய 25 வருடகால பங்களிப்புக்காக, சன்ன - உபுலி கலை நிகழ்ச்சி அறக்கட்டளையின் ஸ்தாபகரான கலாநிதி சன்ன விஜேவர்தன பாராட்டப்பட்டார்.
சன்ன - உபுலி கலை நிகழ்ச்சி அறக்கட்டளைக் குழுவினரின் பாரம்பரிய நடன நிகழ்ச்சிகள் மற்றும் வண்ணமயமான மற்றும் நேர்த்தியான ஆடைகளால் விருந்தினர்கள் கவரப்பட்டனர். விருந்தினர்கள் ருசியான இலங்கை உணவு வகைகளையும், உலகின் மிகச்சிறந்த சிலோன் தேநீரையும் சுவைத்து மகிழ்ந்ததுடன், இது உண்மையிலேயே இலங்கையின் சூழலை உருவாக்கியது.
